About This Spot

Benewah Market unfolds like a quiet heartbeat in the rhythms of Plummer, Idaho—a grocery store that feels less like a commercial stop and more like a familiar pause in the day’s journey. From the moment you step inside, there’s a gentle ease to the space, where warmth and simplicity are carried in the hum of stocked shelves and the natural light tracing across clean, polished floors.

This is a place where the pace slows just enough to invite discovery among aisle after aisle of thoughtfully curated groceries. The store surprises with its size and variety, offering a well-rounded selection that goes beyond what you might expect in a small-town market. It’s the kind of spot that encourages you to linger, whether you’re searching for everyday staples or something to satisfy a quiet craving.

There’s a subtle comfort in knowing the friendly faces you encounter behind the counter are neighbors in this community, ready to help rather than rush. The bakery corner draws its own quiet crowd, where the aroma of fresh pastries, like the local favorite maple-bar-with-bacon, provides a moment of simple indulgence—an invitation to sit with a donut and watch the world outside the windows.

Benewah Market is not just a place to gather groceries; it’s a pulse point for locals and visitors alike—a reminder that small-town shopping need not mean limited choices or hurried stops. Whether you’re fueling a local road trip or restocking your kitchen for the week, there’s a sense of place here that quietly celebrates everyday moments and the warmth of a community crossing paths.

12.26.23: It was my first time in the store and I wanted to familiarize myself with the small town and needed to stop in for a few things. It was nice inside and it was bigger than I thought. There was a pretty good selection of groceries and I know this will be a regular go-to versus driving to a bigger town or city. My friend told me their donuts are pretty good and of course I had to try one. I had a maple bar and liked how the dough wasn't heavy and the maple glaze frosting was nice, smooth, and tasty. The clerk was friendly and engaging, which is awesome since I'll now be a regular. Being on the reservation, it was pretty cool to find out groceries aren't taxed.

Seriously, this place is great. A huge selection of decently priced groceries, friendly staff and clean shelves. Even the floor is sparkling clean.

Helpful, friendly, and have some of the best deals I've ever seen. And they also have a huge selection of spices. Even though I live an hour away I'm going to shop here every month

Gas prices are cheaper than Washington state, so when visiting friends, I usually stop here. Their bakery has a wonderful " logger donut" which is a maple bar with bacon bits. As for some of the high prices, if you check the online weekly sales add, this store can be quite price competitive.

Great customer service, good prices for small town, friendly and clean atmosphere.

For a small town, they sure had a little of everything in this tribsl owned grocery store thats larger on the inside with a hot food section and seating area. They also have a larger than expected butcher area and produce section for a small store. Some food a little on the pricier side. Bonus points for having an Ace Hardware and post office around the corner in the same building. The staff were super friendly and quick to show you around.

I love the half and half donuts. Every time we come visit our family, we always stop in to get the half-chocolate half-maple donuts. They are the best donuts I have ever had from anywhere! Plus, the Jojo's and cheese are a delicious snack. It's one of my favorite places to get hot deli food and donuts.
